CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR
CMP Sensor Bank 1

The Bank 1 camshaft Position sensor (CMP) is located on the end
of the engine, right hand side of the vehicle toward the rear of
the car.

The Bank 2 camshaft Position sensor (CMP) is located on the end
of the engine, right hand side of the vehicle toward the front of
the car.

The CMP is secured by a single 7mm bolt, remove this and the sensor
will pull out of the fitting hole, and disconnect the sensor.

Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor OPERATION
The CMP sensor provides camshaft position information, used by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to synchronise fuel injection, the Jaguar X Type uses a 2 wire Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor is a single Hall effect magnetic switch. This is activated by a single vane, and is driven by the camshaft.
